I have lost my phone yesterday in the train and I realized that it was gone, I was already in the car with my kids and I didn't really know where to look. I got home and I tried to call my cellphone from my home and to get things worse, my home phone was not charged!! Very frustrated, I didn't know what to do. I put the phone to charge for few minutes just to try. I called and a lady answered and she said that she found my phone in the train! Disconnected, I had to wait again. I called back and she gave me her cellphone number and then got disconnected again! Finally I called my husband very quick and asked him to call the number and I told him the story very briefly. He called her and she told him that she will be waiting for me at the train station to give me the phone. I went there and she was waving with my phone in her hand. I just didn’t know how to thank her and if I should call her back now since I still have her phone number to say something. I have lost my phone in the past and was never returned to me.

What can I do next?

She was truly a good samaritan to give you your phone back. Not everyone will do that!

Personally, I give candles to people as thank you gifts or any kind of gift. I also give them to people to brighten their days. I love seeing people smile!

Make it a GREAT week!

I am very happy your phone was returned. My husband lost his phone a couple months ago and we were not so fortunate to have it returned. It is nice to know there are still good people out there. I think it would be nice if you could write her a little note but I guess that would require getting her address which may be weird. I think it is sweet that you want to do more but she is probably fine with your thank you. But if you want just call her and say thank you again and say you felt rushed yesterday and that you thought you weren't able to properly thank her.

My mom taught me to donate to a charity in this situation. Donate a few dollars (whatever you feel comfortable with) in the name of "lady who returned my phone on the train." It makes for good karma!

You can also write a letter to the editor of your newspaper and hope they publish it.

I'm sure that you said "thank you" when you got the phone from her. I believe this should suffice. Obviously, you have stumbled across a good samaratain who knows the value of helping others. I'm sure seeing your releived face was more than enough. I'm thinking calling her again might just seem a little stalkerish. Be thankful and pay it forward to someone else in need that will be her best thank you.
