Keurig Coffee Maker

I was curious if anyone out there has one of the Keurig Coffee makers. I love coffee and I just have a regular drip coffee pot, but my husband wanted to buy me the Keurig Platinum. We were looking at them when we were at Kohls the other day and they just confuse the hell out of me!! I can buy a package of 18 pods for about $15, which is, obviously, only 18 cups of coffee, but I can buy my normal Folgers for $9.99 and get over a 100 cups of coffee!!!! I know that for a ridiculous $20 I can purchase the filter that will allow me to use my own coffee when I want to, so then, why would I buy the Keurig?! I do like how you can use the Platinum version to make iced teas or coffees and I like how you can buy a package that has a collection of different coffees in it. I also like that I can have a fresh cup in just a few seconds instead of making a pot and having it sit there and get burnt. However, when I actually think about it, the coffee maker just seems like another crazy trend that cost too much money. I will say that I have only had one cup of coffee from the Keurig when I was over an Aunt's house and it was the best cup I have ever tasted, but is it worth it?

What can I do next?

A few people in the office have one at home and they liked it, so we now have one in the office. If you're a big coffee drinker you can look into buying the pods in bulk.

Note: I hate coffee and never drink it. I do however like tea. I hate using the Keurig for hot water.

I have one, my parents bought me one from a home show when they first came out. I love it!! I am a coffee member on green mountain. Every three months my k cups show up at my door. They are about 10.00 a case for 25 cups i think. I am considering buying the newer maker. Mine is a dinosaur...lol! I guess having it for a few years, i can tell you that it is worth the money :)

I have one and I love it! I have the one that makes a small and medium cups. What we did was buy the machine then go to the Keurig website to buy more. It is cheaper that way. They also sell the coffee at grocery stores.

The Keurig company sells tea, hot coco and coffee.

We had one, and it just collected dust on the counter- I found the pods very expensive, and the machine was a bit noisy, always scared it would wake our daughter! It is very fast just to brew a cup of coffee, but we found their large cup, wasn't that large!
I would stick with your foldgers, I just sold mine at a garage sale!

I got a Keurig for Christmas. I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IT. I wasn't a huge coffee drinker before because I was the only one in the house that like a regular cup of joe. In order to make a decent cup of coffee I needed to make at least a four cup pot and hence, waste a good amount of coffee. The Keurig was the best appliance (besides the Magic Bullet ((that I thought I would never even want) I have ever gotten. I know that right now at both Sam's Club and Costco you can get a Keurig brewer (the one that has the iced drink option) and whole bunch of K-cups AND the refillable filter for less that the usual price of the Brewer alone. I highly recommend it.

All depends on how you drink your coffee - if all you want is coffee in the morning, make a pot and you are done for the day. However the Kuerig excels for the random cups during the day or when you have differnt people who like different varieties(decaf, full caff, flavored, extra dark roast etc.),

My husband has our Kuerig at work right now - he keeps promising to bring it home - but if it were here I would actuallly use both.

My inlaws have one and LOVE it. They now drink coffee/coco 18h a day! They bought one for my hubby and the only time that we use it is when the inlaws come over. The reason? Hubby likes to use the BIG mugs. This does not work well with the Keurig. To fill the BIG mugs you have to run the cycle 2x. Once for large, then for small. Hubby really likes the Green Mountain coffee, but not the hassle so now he just pops open the pods and pours them into the regular coffee maker filter and uses his regular coffee maker.

I agree with an earlier Mom; I think the pod concept way too expensive and that the Keurig concept is pretty trendy. We have a good Krups coffee maker that has the regular coffee pot and a;so tje expresso and cappucino maker on the side. I have found that the type of coffee I buy makes a big difference in the coffee we get. Surprisingly after trying many kinds I buy our coffee( inexpensively) in bulk beans at our local Costco (their brand)and got and inexpensive grinder. It makesa great cup of coffee and I can make a small pot, large or the other 2 options. I think if you take the pod cost into consideration with the coffee maker you would be surprised at the annual expense. If this is not a concern for you, go for it :D

I have a Keurig and really like it. I like the variety of coffee and teas you can get. I also like that I don't have to make an entire pot of coffee to get my caffeine fix. Plus, my husband likes strong coffee and I like flavors, no more fighting or compromising.

Also, my family gets together often for dinner and all of my relatives know about my coffee maker and know where to find the k-cups. This way, if it's just Great Grandpop who wants coffee, we aren't wasting a pot.

Don't buy the cups in the store, they are too expensive. Get them online. We order them from coffeewiz.com. They have reasonable prices.
