Need Some Cake Fillig Suggestions

I'm making my son's birthday cake Saturday and I'm not sure what to use as a cake filling. I'm stacking two cakes, one white, one chocolate. The frosting will be the sweet sugary stuff. I was thinking pudding or cream cheese frosting. I don't want anything too sweet though. I'm not big on the fruit stuff. I'm not a good cook and I don't have much time. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

What can I do next?

I usually use the same in the middle as the frosting I'm making for the top. Cream cheese frosting is always a hit, you can flavor them different, like chocolate cream cheese on top and lemon flavored in the middle... easy and not too fruity/jam like of a filling.

Are you frosting the cake. You can use the same frosting for the middle. I love cake with whipped cream and sliced bananas as a filling. I also like using jam as the filling and frosting on the outside. Pudding sounds good. And I love cream cheese frosting. I suggest that if you use cream cheese frosting you use that as both the filling and the outside.

What about a chocolate mousse?

A very thin layer of raspberry jam really adds a nice flavor, too.

I think vanilla pudding would be good...ya know what else would be good? Ice cream! I work in a bakery and it is totally easy to make your own ice cream cake...ya just freeze the 2 layers for an hour or 2 and let the ice cream get a lil' melty while the cake is getting hard, then spread it on the bottom layer like you would regular filling, then stack the top layer on top then back in the freezer til its frozen again then frost like regular...put back in freezer til 20- 30 mins before cutting time and whoala...ice cream cake...yum!

Frost one layer, then top it with the next and frost it. Just get the big can of whipped frosting.

You could do the same or opposite frosting... If vanilla on the out choc on the in. Then since its a party and a you are doing a van & choc cake crush up some oreos and layer it on top of the frosting. Or cookie crumbs or you can get the ice cream topping sprinkles and sprinkle them on. They have every flavor of cookie and candy bar. Hope this helps.

I would just play it safe, since you say you are not a great cook and just use the frosting.
