I'm looking for a park or pond or waterfall or somthing beautiful to get married next to on the cheap. I looked into Botanical Gardens in FT Worth. Beautiful, but $300 for the cheap garden and another $50 for a changing room. I think I can do better, but I don't know the area all that well. Any thoughts? Definietly looking at Fall in the evening. I live in DFW now - yeah.... it's hot!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I looked into Parks and Rec websites in the area. I heard there was a nice park with a lake and gazebo in Mansfield, but never fouind it on the website. I found a beautiful park - WInwood Park with a small white gazebo overlooking the lake in Addison. No charge which is G R E A T! But they don't take reservations, which is terrible. What if I send invitations and people come from all over and it happens to be somebodys 3rd birthday and the thing is full the day of my wedding! uggh. The search continues.

Have you looked at White Rock Lake in Dallas? If you're simply looking for an outdoor ceremony, I doubt Parks will charge you for getting married off the path. They charge for renting the buildings. There are parts where you can overlook the lake and see the skyline in the back. Have you thought of Las Colinas downtown area by the canal? I've seen so many pics done by my photographer down there and it appears real pretty. Good luck!

I agree with looking into the city parks. You might check out Grapevine Botanical Gardens. Richardson has come really nice parks. I don't know what are you are looking for, but you might look into Clark Gardens. http://www.clarkgardens.org/
I agree with what another person said about the weather. My husband and I wanted an outdoor wedding and we were getting married in September.
(in Dallas) We decided to have it indoors and it ended up being 99 that day. I'm so happy we decided indoors!!

I got married at Chandor Gardens in Weatherford. We had the whole sha-bang there, so I am not sure if/how much just a ceremony big/small would be!! It is a beautiful place.

I have never been to a wedding here but it's a street over from my parents house so I drive past it every time I go over there. It's looks like a great place from the outside and based on the pics. Hey, it's worth a phone call to check it out at least. :)

I have a friend that got married at a gazebo on Lake Grapevine. Try their parks & rec page. Sorry I don't have any more info that that on that one. Also, Keller Bear Creek Park behind Keller Town Hall/across the bridge from Keller Pointe has a nice little garden. I know you can reserve pavilions there but I don't know about the garden.

Addison Courthouse has a Gazebo. Don't know if or what they would charge.

Just do it in the fall, winter or early spring because DFW is one of the hottest places I've ever been to, and I grew up south of Atlanta and still live in Atlanta. DFW is just a special kind of hot though in the summer!

I second checking with the parks department. Lots of "small or large gathering" permits cost $50 -$150 and you could get dressed somewhere else. You should also check any local state or national parks. You can usually reserve gazebo or shelter areas at those for a relatively small fee.

We live outside of Chicago, but I have to say : Think outside the box! We got married at a bed and breakfast that was in a Victorian house with a beautiful garden and porch. Lots of 'wedding' places will charge you a CRAZY amount just to put your foot in the door and then insist that you only work with 'their' caterers, photographer, etc. Look at some places that are less traditional and you may find that people are totally accommodating and thrilled that you want to celebrate your special day with them- and cheaper for your pocketbook too! Best of luck!

I don't know about Ft. Worth but in Portland one can get married in any of the city parks with only paying for the permit to have a group. It's less than $100. No changing room, of course, but you could get dressed at home.
