Hi!

I am thinking about buying a steam mop to replace our swiffer sprayer. We have laminate wood and linoleum which we plan on replacing very soon with tile. Do they work well on these surfaces? What is your favorite brand?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I bought the Eureka Envirosteamer, and I LOVE it. It takes all the sticky dried on messes away in seconds!! I used to scrub forever with the sponge, and this is so easy. I seem to always find stickers all over our wood floors (GRRRR!!!) and when I go to peel them up, it always leaves some behind. The mop is awesome for that!!

We have a shark that we bought at costco and my husband absolutely LOVES it. He cleans the floors weekly with it, and that's reason enough for my to say that it's worth every penny. :)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Shark Steam Pocket Mop. I have hardwood and tile in my home and it cleans both quickly and thoroughly. It's fast, the floor dries almost immediately and streak free, the reusable pads are easy to clean and like using a brand new mop every time, the water tank is HUGE for less stopping to refill, it's double-sided so you get more use out of every pad, you can buy extra pads for no too-too much, it sanitizes and gets up SO much dirt that is gratifying to see on the pads when finished, I can use it while my baby is playing in the same room, it's quiet and lightweight...I can keep going.
It costs about $120 in stores like Target, but I signed up for the Shark website and get coupons from them and got mine for $60. It does such a better job than a Swiffer Wet Jet and is safer too because you don't leave a chemical residue on your floors.
Good luck!

My sister has tile floor throughout her home (except in bedrooms) and recently had to have them professionally cleaned. She moved into the home a few years ago, and the floors had always been strangely sticky/waxy feeling. The man who cleaned her floors told her that the very best thing to keep tile clean is steam, and any chemical cleaning product will leave a film on the tile. She got a steam mop, and her tiles look and FEEL great.

i'd be careful with steam and laminate. unless you've had your floors sealed after they were put in, the steam can still get between the boards and cause warping. check out other experiences at http://www.blurtit.com/q357776.html

I have tried the Oreck Steam Mop and liked how it cleaned the floors but not the other surfaces. I felt it was too expensive. I just recently got the Eureka Enviro Steamer and I love it! The handle is adjustable (I am tall) and since the unit that holds the water is on the floor it seems to move better across the floor with less muscle. The price was way better too. I got mine from Amazon and didn't even have to pay for shipping. I only have linoleum so I can't say how it works on wood but there are a lot of reviews on Amazon.

I had a Bissell steam mop that stopped working after a year. I since bought a Eureka Enviro-steam mop. When I first got it I thought it was clunky and would not do a good job. But once I actually started using it, I love it. I got it off of Amazon.com, got free shipping and it only cost about $65. The great thing is that it has a large water tank and the tank is right down at the bottom so the water does not have to travel very far. Also no filters to buy and replace. I do have trouble getting into the tight corners but I just take a rag once a week to get the dirt out. I use it on the wood and on vinyl tile. It also dries faster than a regualr mop since it is steam. When I have a tough spot, like sticky just or such, I jsut let the mop sit on the spot a few seconds and it comes right off. I only use cleaner like lysol or mr clean for the walls.
We still use a swiffer wet mop, but only for the bathroom so the kids can clean and get behind the toilet and sink.

I love my Shark Steam Mop but if I were to really have the opportunity to use each one on the market today and money wasn't a factor I might choose the Oreck instead for the versitility.

The H2O Plus.
Works great on wood and linoleum. Also has an attachment so you can steam clean carpets and the newer model has an attachment that disconnects from the main mop so you have a hand-held sprayer for steam-cleaning hard to clean areas and toilets...LOVE IT! They are purchased on-line so you should be able to Google it.
